Adults: Pronounced growth hormone deficiency associated with multiple hormonal deficiencies as a result of a known hypothalamic or pituitary pathology, and who have at least one other known pituitary hormone deficiency other than prolactin. These patients should undergo an appropriate dynamic stimulation test to diagnose or rule out growth hormone deficiency.
Children and adults
Growth disorders due to insufficient growth hormone secretion.
Growth retardation in girls with gonadal dysgenesis (Turner syndrome), confirmed by chromosomal analysis.
Growth retardation in prepubertal children due to chronic kidney disease (CKD).
Growth disorder (current height <-2.5 standard deviations (SDS) and adjusted parental height <-1 SDS) in children born small for gestational age (SGA) with a birth weight and/or length below -2 SDS, who have not shown catch-up growth (growth velocity (GV) < 0 SDS during the past year) by age 4 or later.
Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS), to improve growth and body composition. The diagnosis of PWS must be confirmed by an appropriate genetic test. With growth deficiency associated with alterations in the SHOX gene, confirmed by DNA analysis. Growth failure due to Noonan syndrome.
